More blogs

For the story of Tara's adoption from Ukraine, go to the archives at the bottom of the right column and start reading in February 2005. Little Tara was two years old when she left an orphanage with her new family. When she began kindergarten in the fall or 2008, we stopped our regular entries about her new life in America. Now it's her to story to tell.

But we can't resist posting some pictures every once in a while. In addition to the one above taken this spring, check out some new ones by clicking on the Adoptlove Photoset in the left column.

Here, we keep a running tally of blogs from families adopting in Ukraine so that others can follow along. For some of us, it's about reliving the adventure, the frustration, the miracle. For others, it's about hope for finding their children in Ukraine.

Watch for the most recent blogs at the bottom of this list.

The site that hosts the blogs in the right column, Blogrolling.com, has been down for a while and not accepting new posts. Hence this list. Enjoy

Hello everyone,

It has been great reading the blog and seeing everyone's process moving along nicely.

My wife and I are a couple from Ontario, Canada and we have been working on adopting children from Ukraine for three years. Being from Ontario, we are subject to very strict adoption guidelines. It has been difficult aligning the Ukrainian and Ontario requirements all the way along.

Ontario has approved us to adopt two children provided they are healthy, under the age of six, and siblings. We had our first appointment at the adoption centre in Kiev last Tuesday and were not shown any proposals that met those requirements.

We have requested a second appointment and, right now, our facilitator in Kiev is contacting social workers and orphanage directors all over Ukraine to try and find children that meet the requirements that Ontario has saddled us with.

We are just wondering if any of you that are currently visiting orphanages might ask if they have any children for us. If we could get the names of the children and the name of the orphanage, our facilitator could take it from there. Any help would be most appreciated. Our cell number in Ukraine is:
3 80 98 127 1712. (It's not necessary to dial the 3 if dialing from within Ukraine). Our email address is:
ktoews1@cogeco.ca

Thanks so much.

So, How do you get your blog on this site? I love reading and keeping in touch with the families. We are adopting and leaving for the Ukraine on March 1.

My name is Lauren Posendek and my husband Scott and I are travelling to Ukraine to adopt up to 2 children. Our SDA appointment is on October 12th! We would love it if you would post our blog on your site. We have been looking at this site since we started the adoption process back in January and it has been very helpful and exciting to follow others along their journey. We would love to be able to help someone else in the same way!
