Looking up
So we're driving to work and school the other morning, me with my hot coffee and Tara with her bagel in the backseat. Sometimes we just move along silently, other times she watches a DVD. But on this day we both felt a little chatty.I asked her what color was her shirt. Pink, she said. Right! Good! What color are your pants? Red. No, try again. Green! No, they are blue, Tara. Yeah, blue!
How many shoes do you have? Two! How many noses do you have? One! (Impressed yet?)
OK, time to mess with her a little. How many Mamas do you have? Two! No no, you have just one Mama. No, she insisted, two Mamas. Tara, you have one Mama, one Daddy, one brother, I pressed on. NOOOOOOO!!
OK, OK. I give up. I'm your Mama, who is your other Mama? She smiled. "Laura."

Posted to Tara's Story
Hi: Tara knows she has one mama, but what a sense of humor she has. She sure love to tease her mama. She is a happy child and likes to have fun. ***JEANNE***
Posted by: at October 17, 2005 12:05 PMi love tara so much!! all 2 year olds are like that, even my little brother. they can make us laugh so hard with the things they try to say, sometimes try to be grownup. sometimes, little jeffrey will want me to carry him on his back cause he insist's that hes 'the baby' & he tells me im the sissy(sister). this is my first comment in so long! tell 'The Tard' I said hi!!!
Posted by: Caroline at October 17, 2005 06:44 PMOMG Caroline, my daughter's little half-brothers call her Sissy! That's pretty much her name at their house...she loves them too, they are hilarious, you're right!
Isn't Tara amazing? She loves mom so much, she wants to own ALL of her names--all 2 of them!

Posted by: sally at October 18, 2005 09:59 AMHi Laura! I finally have a few minutes and am catching up on your site. I can't believe how much Tara's facial features have changed in just the 5 or 6 weeks i've been absent. She is growing up! It sounds like she is doing so well adjusting to her new family and life, too. What a blessing!
One of these days we still have to get our girls together! Take care,
Wendy
I think maybe Tara is going to be a psychoanalyst, she is diagnosing multiple personalities in her mama. When Caroline was little she would leave me mysterious voice messages on my phone and she asked me how I always knew it was her. I said "You're the only one who calls me 'Mom'." Caroline got on the phone in 1994 when she was three years old and she hasn't hung up since. So you still have a little time to spend with Tara.
