Parenthood

When I was scurrying out of Tara's pre-school this morning, another mom and I gave each other knowing glances and took deep breaths. We just got our daughters settled in for the day, a little boy was wailing..."I'm exhausted already and the work day hasn't even started yet," she said. "And I'm 20 minutes late." I smile, nod and look down, my skirt is wrinkled. The working parent bond strengthens.

I like to watch the working moms come in to the daycare centers with one in a carrier, one they are dragging by the wrist, and one they are pushing along in front of them through the door. They go back out the doors, their clothes disheveled, spit cloth on their shoulders, the nice hair clip hanging off their head , out to their gi-normous SUVs and you see them trying to re-apply makeup while talking on the cell phone. Too hectic for me! Shudder.

"too hectic for me" hehe, well, I'll start with one, and since I work at home I'll just be exhausted and dishevelled minus the SUV and makeup. I hate to say, but this "understanding under fire" is what I look forward to. I am sick of years of being glared at for looking like I have had enough sleep (I have), having only dog drool and no formula on my clothes, not having war stories to trade. I'll give up "it's so selfish not to have kids" for the hectic look... it would be nice to be one of the girls for once. cheers!

Hi fellow Typepad Featured Blogger. I just clicked onto our site - my sister is in Moscow with her newly adopted daughter Sonya who is from an orphanage in Perm. The new family of three - my sis, her huband and Sonya are happily adjusting to their new life together and eager to get back to Brooklyn. Your blog looks nice. Check mine out too.

I'llshow your site to my sister when she gets home with Sonya.
