So many firsts
Tara woke up today with a smile and it has pretty much lasted all day. She has blossomed in just one day from a shy orphan to a very giggly girl. She is very playful. And when it was naptime (mostly for Sally and me, still recovering from major jetlag) we told Tara it was time to sleep. She put her toys down and walked over to the bed, where she slept for three hours (!) I guess all of this attention wore her out.
It's been a day of firsts for the little girl, from a trip to McDonalds to hanging out at the Internet cafe with her mom and funny 2nd cousin Sally.
We are unable to post any pictures today, but we hope to do that soon with Natasha's laptop.
Tomorrow we plan to go to the catacombs so Sally can check out the monks. I think Tara and I will hang out outside and hope that Sally makes it out of there.
AUSTIN: I miss you so much!

"Whatever I wanna do, Gawrsh!" Tara is the opposite of Napoleon...I can't believe this little girl. She is so obedient. We are going to have to remedy that, but soon!!! Time for rebellion. Speaking of rebellion, finally, Laura lets me on the blog! Can you believe this? She's been holding me hostage in that super-dry-Arizona-desert apartment, drugging me so I sleep (oh, well, maybe I've been drugging myself), doling out food (like this crappy cheeze whiz and sponge crust pizza we ordered last night--luckily Tara fell asleep before it came)hogging Tara Vika!!!! Ok, well, she is her Mama. You should hear Tara say "Mama." She says it with this smile in her voice, like this: MaaaMa. It's the sweetest thing, now she's giggling and playing with Laura... Laura told you in the blog how sweet she is, I feel privileged to be here and to be in on this reunion of Mother & Child...Ooops! Laura wants to know if I'm "trying to be witty." That means it's time to go folks....(-; Ben, Marika & Maggie, I love you guys very much!!! I miss you. Are you appreciating me yet????

Posted by: JEANNE W at April 9, 2005 01:56 PMI can't believe it. Like this is just what Tara's been waiting for all her life! What adjustment?
Hey, Sally, miss me too. I miss you!
Saw the "royal wedding" this morning. Those British fashions -- arghhhh! Even Mrs. Blair! Fortunately, Camilla's wedding ensembles looked a shade more American, except for the doily on one hat and the sheaf of wheat on the other one. Can't hide a bride's glow though!
love, mom (o;
xxoo to everyone!

Posted by: heidi at April 9, 2005 05:48 PMWow, just wait until you get back home -- Tara has a whole load of firsts waiting for her here, too, from the first time she meets her brother to the first time she sleeps in her new room ... to the first time she comes to the News Service to meet all your coworkers. Right??
Hope you have a safe and uneventful trip home. It's beautiful here, almost like summer -- the perfect time for a little girl to explore her new neighborhood for the first time.
