Kids are like cats
Our paperwork is plodding through the system, enlisting various signatures and approvals. We visited the little girl again today. She is still shy and not sure why we keep coming. But she is warming up to us.
We are glad y'all liked the pictures yesterday and added some to the photo album today. We like watching her play with her friends; she can be very animated. We are trying to take pictures of more of the children but it's like trying to take pictures of cats. They do something cute and then scatter.
As for the locked door, brother David and sister Karen: the hinges are on the outside of our door and they are coated in steel! Impossible to penetrate. You should see doors here, they're huge and heavy! They replaced the lock today.
Love all of your comments!

Laura and John,
'Little girl' is beautiful-she looks like an old soul. Pretty and wise beyound her years.
I'm with Austin, I hope she is the one .
Without scaring her, she if she responds to any stoogies routine-it could be the just the thing to seal the deal.

Each day, one step closer!!! I love reading your entries, it's like a book I can't read fast enough. Headed to Chicago, will try to hook up to your site there. I'll be thinking about you and that darling little girl.

Posted by: Vicki at February 10, 2005 02:55 PMOMG!!! She is soooo beautiful. I soooo hope this works out!!!! I'm holding my breath until it does. I don't care HOW LONG the bureaucracy takes!!! BTW, since this blog is taking over my life, I decided that I better join Bloggaholics Unanimous. It's a twelve step program for people addicted to your blog. The first step is: "Admit You Have a Problem..." Also, I just ate 6 Pepperidge Farm Double Chocolate Milano Cookies while looking at her pictures. I must get a life. When are you coming home???
Posted by: Sally at February 10, 2005 03:13 PMPS: Looking thru the pics, I finally got the "lightbulb" joke--duh, John's "idea". You guys are too subtle for us... (-;

Word has finally reached your old Freep pals about your Big Adventure. We wish you the best. The Little Girl is absolutely adorable and gorgeous. We'll keep reading and following the tale, and maybe one day we'll meet her.

John and I are so very excited for you both. We hope and pray that everything works out how you want it to! The baby girl is beautiful! Hope to meet her soon! Good luck!
Posted by: Anne Lew at February 10, 2005 06:33 PMJust found the 5 red vest pictures. Dave was right: fashionable dresser, and chic haircut. Shows off her striking eyes! Well, we're all in love with "little girl" now, so you have no choice. Can't let Austin and the rest of us down!
Aunt Ellen
HI LAURA AND JOHN
THE PICTURE OF YOU 3 IS ADORABLE. WITH AUSTIN IN IT, IT MAKES A BEAUTIFUL FAMILY PICTURE. HER EYES ARE SO BEAUTIFUL. I JUST LOVE READING ALL THE COMMENTS.
MORE COMMENTS LATER. LOVE YOU ***MOM
Big sister here...Austin went to Eli's for the night. He is so grown up. And the little girl is going to go to college because she is smart, too. She may be an aeronautical engineer, or a gifted MD. Yes she is cute. Like a cat. BTW your cat did something really cute on the kitchen floor.
I see no reason why we can't run a little Stooges or even some Beatles music past this child, it would be a good indication of intelligence if she lights up to "Back in the USSR", after all, "those Ukraine girls really knock me out". Caroline says to remind you that Caroline is in fact 1/16 Ukraine Mike suspects John is going to fly home first and not tell anybody so he can enjoy a few (final) days of peace and quiet. Hey Sal, you are funny. Pam you are the smarty pants little sister. Let's get this hierarchy straight. Sorry, Heidi, you're the middle child ("Its always Marcia Marcia Marcia!")
Excellent pictures! I love them all, esp. that very first one (even though it's from the back!). It looks like now the fun is really starting! fun fun fun fun fun.
