Hump day

The children at the orphanage recognize us when we visit. We already have our favorites (besides Tara, of course). They run up to us and say all kinds of things in Russian (we think, or is it Ukrainian??)

We look to Thursday to press on.

Karen: You can take Austin to the scary movie if you are prepared to be up with him through the night!

Hopefully the Queen will deign to sign your letter tomorrow! Or we'll have to storm that old "Gate to the Ukraine." It'll be just like Lord of the Rings when those trolls storm the village fortress in Elron or wherever that was. And I will play that Elf with the long blond hair, you know the cool one who knew archery... (LOR fans, I don't want to hear it.)
GARSH! I hope that lady signs your letter tomorrow! Today I was thinking maybe it's not such a bad thing, you being out there for a year now, like in Jane Austen, where everybody always visited by carriage for at LEAST a few months. And the pace of our modern life is so hectic and crazy and frantic and hectic. Maybe it's kind of cool that this is taking forever and you're getting to know Tara and the two of you (J&L, inc.) are rediscovering your romance, kind of like J.Lo & Marc Antony, and not fighting AT ALL, right? And recommiting to the Relationship, like Big Time. And you're going to make your next album, TOGETHER! And Laura and Karen will reunite to do Polish/Ukrainian Dancing in the Music Video on VH1! Gawd, it's all so beautiful!!! The only thing missing is Austin (Help, we gotta save the poor kid from his crazy aunt who wants to take him to see the Exorcist!) Maybe we could have Dr. Phil counsel Karen on The Effects of Special Effects on Impressionable Kids' Innermost Psyches. Can you send those souvenirs? I really want to see Dr. Phil in that hat!

Austin WANTS to see a spook movie. He asks every day. Think he's trying to be brave like big cousin Caroline maybe? Okay you guys have been in Kiev for a month and you're not speaking some Russian to Tara? With little kids, its easy. Learn the words for "come here", "get down", "what's your name?", "how pretty", "what are you doing?", "don't bug me" and "ask your father!"and names for animals. You already know the important words, Da and Nyet.
...yes, the Bossy Imperialistic Temperamental Caustic Hag had better do her job right and cut everyone a break and sign the papers!
