A little of this, a little of that
We stopped in a pharmacy today to pick up some supplies. They keep everything behind glass here. I mean everything, including Band-aids. I opened the cabinet and took a pack out and a clerk came out of nowhere, grabbed them from me and put them back behind the glass. I had to tell her what I want, she wrote it down on a little piece of paper, I got in line and showed the paper to the cashier and paid her. She gave me a receipt and I had to find someone in the store to gather the items I bought and give them to me in a bag. Whew! And we wonder why the adoption process takes so long!
We had dinner with an American couple, Bruce and Kerry, who are also here to adopt. They are getting on a train at 8 am Sunday to go back to the region where their daughter-to-be lives. At the restaurant, the host walked around with a microphone, playing games with the diners. A pretty, young woman asked John and Bruce for their right shoes. She was in a contest with her friend. Both girls managed to collect 6 shoes, but our girl convinced the judge that she should win because "I had two foreigners!" Everyone looked at us. So much for blending in...
Tara was happy to see us this afternoon. I'm not sure who has more fun running around the table, Tara or John.

Thank you for your wonderful journal. My husband and I check in to see what's new almost every day. It's very well done and simply stated. Tara is a doll...you guys are very lucky! Wishing you continued success and a safe trip home. Dana from New Jersey.
Posted by: Dana at February 19, 2005 04:19 PMDave, Think about it:
why would they go get a prescription when they have a thousand spam in their mailbox everyday with much better prices? Plus, if you can't even get a quote, unquote: BANDAID out there without a huge production...well...now we see yet ANOTHER reason for the popularity of Vodka & beer in the region...
Re: Blog-envy: I actually made a blog. So did Heidi & Pamela and Granmda Aunt Elly and Cousin Jethro...
'Cept, you don't want to read these blogs. They start out: Ben needs more Gas-Ex. Marika needs a ride to ballet. Maggie (my stepdaughter) is practicing her dancing, and Heidi's going to say something that may irritate some people...(Wow! now that's a shocker!) To be fair, Heidi made the first blog & my niece & nephew are on it. So hers actually is interesting...
But worst of all (I'm tired, it's late): I can't watch this cute video of Tara until Tuesday!!!!!
Here's why: Ben's (my hub) ex-wife owns a LINUX store so this computer is LINUX and I don't know how to get the video to run. MOZILLA???? Heck if I know what that is! And my laptop (a Dell, thank god) probably needs 60 virus updates by now, but I can barely get powerpoint to run on there, much less a video!
I won't be back to my REAL computer (at work) til Tuesday, Turns out I took off PRESIDENTS' DAY (Monday) to go get my LICENSE renewed and now I realize the Secretary of State is going to be CLOSED!!!! ARGHHH!(I'm going to have to take a bus & throw an action figure out the back window. I'll do whatever I want to! GAAARSH!)
This is bad. I want to see that video!!!!
(No,I don't want to go to work on a vacation day--that is just too weenie-ish!!!) Don't you hate those people who come back a day early from vacation? Total losers.
Raisins!?! How about Hershey's kisses?
Raisins! Sheesh.
PS: Karen, want to go to Mall of America with me?
PS: Didn't there used to be a movie called "The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe"?
Posted by: sally at February 20, 2005 12:45 PMActually, I think I would like shopping in the Ukraine. You go in, tell 'em what you want, pay for it and you're out the door. Sounds great. I mean, really, its a drive-thru with no car.
Austin has a snow day today. Thank Goodness, did not want to do "the drive" on slick roads with all the maniacs out there on M-39, especially at the lift-off to 8 Mile, everyone gets over at the last second.
Hang in there and keep plodding along. Stay as long as you need to. If you're determined to come home with little Tara in your arms, then make it a reality, everything here on the home front is fine.
